Knights' Armour

The armour of a knight is crucial in battle. Any malfunctioning parts could cost them their life. A knight’s armour was tailor made to fit perfectly. During the time a full suit of armour weighed about 50 pounds, that’s a lot of extra weight but the knights were able to move freely.
There was a complex suit of garments put into every suit of armour. Some of these garments include:

  • §  The Sabatons, which were the first parts of a knight’s armour. Sabatons were armour for the feet that consisted of riveted iron plates on the boots.
  • §  Faulds, which were the rings of armour attached to the breast plate and protected the hips, abdomen, and lower back
  • §  A visor was a detachable piece of armour that protected the face and eyes

Armour wasn't just used for protection. It was also a status symbol, the better armour you had; the more important you were considered.
